Exactly, we can't assume anything. Knowing how smart he is I would say he got the clue. He could have gone for the idol tonight and missed out, losing his clue. Or he could have known I was going for it too, saved his for next time when no one else has a clue, and guarantee himself F4 if he can slip through this round.
